Job Description:
The Manager – Cash Centre, reporting to the Head of Central Operations, will oversee and control all cash centre operations. The role involves developing and enforcing cash management policies, ensuring compliance with Bank of Uganda guidelines, managing cash handling risks, and supervising staff performance. The manager will also serve as custodian of the central cash vault and ensure smooth operations across branches and customer cash services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce cash management policies, procedures, and risk controls.
- Identify process gaps in the cash centre and implement system enhancements.
- Report and escalate cash discrepancies to management.
- Reconcile and balance cash accounts; clear reconciliation items promptly.
- Investigate and resolve cash-related queries while keeping stakeholders informed.
- Manage Cash-in-Transit (CIT) services for branches and customers.
- Supervise, train, and develop staff while fostering strong teamwork.
- Review processing and clearing service reports to detect failures and enforce corrections.
- Ensure effective management of service providers and validation of invoices.
- Enforce proper key and cash management practices, including dual control and surprise checks.
- Act as custodian of the central vault.
- Ensure compliance with Bank of Uganda cash management guidelines.
- Prepare and submit operational reports to the Head of Central Operations.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Training in Basic Banking and Cash Management.
- At least 6 years’ experience in a financial institution, with 3+ years in Branch Operations.
- Strong knowledge of cash flow planning and risk management.
- Ability to supervise, train, and organize staff effectively.
- Strong decision-making, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- High integrity, accuracy, and ethical standards.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
