Job Summary:

Our client, a multinational organization in the automotive industry, is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team in Kampala.

The successful candidate will manage payments, collections, reconciliations, and reporting of financial transactions while ensuring tax compliance and coordination with relevant authorities. Experience in a fast-paced environment and proficiency in SAP ERP are key advantages.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the Accounting Department (centralized in Kenya).
• File monthly tax returns including VAT, withholding tax, and statutory deductions.
• Conduct monthly tax ledger reconciliations and ensure compliance with URA, NSSF, and OSHA requirements.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
• Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies through data analysis and account verification.
• Assist the Finance Manager with annual external and statutory audits.
• Handle daily finance and accounting administration tasks in coordination with the Kenya-based finance team.
• Manage petty cash and maintain proper records.
• Undertake any other accounting-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.

Professional Certification:

• Must be a registered member of ICPAU in good standing.

Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within a busy multinational or large organization.

Skills:

• Proficiency in SAP ERP is an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance and financial reporting.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
