Job Description:

The Collateral Monitoring Officer will report to the Head – Credit Monitoring & Support and will be responsible for pre- and post-disbursement inspections of assets financed by the bank. This includes vehicles, plant and machinery, and stock. The role aims to minimize credit risk by ensuring that financed assets are properly monitored, maintained, and compliant with loan conditions throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed asset assessments (vehicles, machinery, and stock) before loan disbursement.
  • Perform periodic inspections of financed assets to verify their condition and compliance with loan terms.
  • Oversee the installation and monitoring of asset tracking devices to enhance visibility and recovery processes.
  • Review reports from the Portfolio Monitoring Officer and make recommendations to reduce risk and asset deterioration.
  • Prepare and submit detailed inspection and status reports for internal review.
  • Conduct semi-annual collateral reviews for customers with ongoing lease or trade finance facilities.
  • Supervise third-party service providers in line with the bank’s risk management policies.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies, Prudential Guidelines, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, or related field.
  • Engineering certification/accreditation is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in auto mechanics or mechanical engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles and machinery.
  • Experience in vehicle inspection and asset condition monitoring.
  • Good understanding of banking operations, credit risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Physically fit and committed to observing safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of the Banking Act and Prudential Guidelines.
