Job Description:
This is a senior technical leadership role based at the Country Office in Kampala, with oversight across WHH's entire country program and partner organizations. The initial contract is for one year, starting on January 1, 2026. The advisor will be responsible for designing, guiding, and ensuring the quality of climate-resilient food system interventions, positioning WHH as a key player in this sector in Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead climate vulnerability assessments and environmental screening for new projects.
- Design and promote climate-resilient food system interventions (e.g., sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, water management).
- Build the capacity of staff and partners in climate-smart agriculture and natural resource management.
- Develop technical guidelines, training materials, and support knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical input for proposal development and represent WHH in national and international forums.
- Mainstream climate adaptation and resilience indicators into project monitoring and evaluation.
- Conduct field visits for technical support, quality assurance, and partner engagement.
- Lead advocacy and stakeholder engagement with government, research institutions, and the private sector.

Kampala, Uganda (with regular travel to field offices and project sites)

Other Relevant Information:
- Qualifications: A Master's degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Food Security, or a related field is required. A postgraduate qualification is an asset.
- Experience: 7–10 years of experience in food security and livelihoods programming, preferably in agro-pastoral communities. Proven expertise in climate resilience program design, cash transfers, and market assessments is essential.
- Skills: Technical proficiency in Market-Based Programming, FSL Assessments, and Participatory Vulnerability & Capacity Assessments. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Contract Details: The initial contract is for one year.
